I came across this Shabad today after clicking on the ‘random Shabad’ link at sikhitothemax.com.

Its one of those Shabad’s that really hits home, its simply amazing..

nrip ka(n)niaa kae kaaranai eik bhaeiaa bhaekhadhhaaree
For a king's daughter, a man disguised himself as Vishnu.

kaamaarathhee suaarathhee vaa kee paij savaaree 1
He did it for sexual exploitation, and for selfish motives, but the Lord protected his honor. 1

thav gun kehaa jagath guraa jo karam n naasai
What is Your value, O Guru of the world, if You will not erase the karma of my past actions?

Why seek safety from a lion, if one is to be eaten by a jackal? 1Pause

When its breath of life is gone, even an ocean is of no use to it. 2

Now, my life has grown weary, and I shall not last much longer; how can I be patient?

I am nothing, I have nothing, and nothing belongs to me.

Emotional Attachment

I’ve recently gone through a phase where I did not know how to deal with vices like attachment. Having exhausted my own means to dealing with the situation I turned to Guru Ji for guidance.

The message I received from Guru Ji was like always spot on in regards to my query :-) here’s what Guru Ji had to say,

ho sathigur saevee aapanaa eik man eik chith bhaae
I serve my True Guru with single-minded devotion, and lovingly focus my consciousness on Him.

sathigur man kaamanaa theerathh hai jis no dhaee bujhaae
The True Guru is the mind's desire and the sacred shrine of pilgrimage, for those unto whom He has given this understanding.

man chi(n)dhiaa var paavanaa jo eishhai so fal paae
The blessings of the wishes of the mind are obtained, and the fruits of one's desires.

naao dhhiaaeeai naao ma(n)geeai naamae sehaj samaae 1
Meditate on the Name, worship the Name, and through the Name, you shall be absorbed in intuitive peace and poise. 1

man maerae har ras chaakh thikh jaae
O my mind, drink in the Sublime Essence of the Lord, and your thirst shall be quenched.

jinee guramukh chaakhiaa sehajae rehae samaae 1 rehaao
Those Gurmukhs who have tasted it remain intuitively absorbed in the Lord. 1Pause

jinee sathigur saeviaa thinee paaeiaa naam nidhhaan
Those who serve the True Guru obtain the Treasure of the Naam.

a(n)thar har ras rav rehiaa chookaa man abhimaan
Deep within, they are drenched with the Essence of the Lord, and the egotistical pride of the mind is subdued.

hiradhai kamal pragaasiaa laagaa sehaj dhhiaan
The heart-lotus blossoms forth, and they intuitively center themselves in meditation.

man niramal har rav rehiaa paaeiaa dharagehi maan 2
Their minds become pure, and they remain immersed in the Lord; they are honored in His Court. 2

sathigur saevan aapanaa thae viralae sa(n)saar
Those who serve the True Guru in this world are very rare.

houmai mamathaa maar kai har raakhiaa our dhhaar
Those who keep the Lord enshrined in their hearts subdue egotism and possessiveness.

ho thin kai balihaaranai jinaa naamae lagaa piaar
I am a sacrifice to those who are in love with the Naam.

saeee sukheeeae chahu jugee jinaa naam akhutt apaar 3
Those who attain the Inexhaustible Name of the Infinite Lord remain happy throughout the four ages. 3

gur miliai naam paaeeai chookai moh piaas
Meeting with the Guru, the Naam is obtained, and the thirst of emotional attachment departs.

har saethee man rav rehiaa ghar hee maahi oudhaas
When the mind is permeated with the Lord, one remains detached within the home of the heart.

jinaa har kaa saadh aaeiaa ho thin balihaarai jaas
I am a sacrifice to those who enjoy the Sublime Taste of the Lord.

naanak nadharee paaeeai sach naam gunathaas 4134
O Nanak, by His Glance of Grace, the True Name, the Treasure of Excellence, is obtained. 4134

Don't let me fall..

You sent me here, You have my path laid out..
Its You who knows each player, each turn, each move..
Why do I have to face and jump so many walls?

jihavae a(n)mrith gun har gaao
O my tongue, sing the Ambrosial Praises of the Lord.

har har bol kathhaa sun har kee oucharahu prabh ko naao 1 rehaao
Chant the Name of the Lord, Har, Har, listen to the Lord's Sermon, and chant God's Name. 1Pause

raam naam rathan dhhan sa(n)chahu man than laavahu bhaao
So gather in the jewel, the wealth of the Lord's Name; love God with your mind and body.

aan bibhooth mithhiaa kar maanahu saachaa eihai suaao 1
You must realize that all other wealth is false; this alone is the true purpose of life. 1

jeea praan mukath ko dhaathaa eaekas sio liv laao
He is the Giver of the soul, the breath of life and liberation; lovingly tune in to the One and Only Lord.
