Walking backwards?

During a discussion with a friend we came across the topic of our journey towards God. The other guy mentioned that these days’ people seem to think they are walking forward on their path to God but in actual case they are only kidding themselves and are caught up in all kinds of rituals and what not and thence end up going off on tangents instead.

This made me think about journeys and how different people tend to walk their path. Does it really matter how one walks the path as long as they are going in the right direction?

I mean, I could be walking backwards but does it really matter as long as I am going in the right direction? Hmmm..

On a side note..
